Let’s talk about the good old-fashioned blog.
We used to have plenty of these all over the Internet; people that wanted to write and continued doing so. Blogs today may seem uncommon because of the rise of social media, but they still play an integral part of content creation as a whole.
A blog Is a website that hosts written content about a specific topic, including personal advice and tutorials, and sometimes even tips or indicators on industry advantages. This is where we turn to learn more about today or about the things that we are most interested in, and still it happens, that many people have something to say and something to write, so blogs have not gone out of business.
Even so, we still need to ask ourselves a question (or maybe a few.)
How Do I Make A Successful Blog?
It would be a lie to say it’s simple, but it would be an injustice to keep away the effort that it takes to make one successful. Here are 5 major ways to make a successful blog:
1. Make sure you have quality content
We all have something we love and something we love to write about. Some people have very deep opinions about businesses and analyse the best way to run them, others feel very deeply about books and how each one affects the world. First off, the question needs to be answered about what makes you passionate.
Then, let’s answer this little brainteaser: has it been said before? If it has, do you think you could say it better?
2. Find your audience
Everyone may love to write but some topics have too many writers. Some people have dedicated their lives to writing about food, about art or clothes but is the market for food writers, art writers and fashion critics open for another one or will you be lost in the crowd?
It Is valuable to find your own people, and have a selection of works that may appeal to them. It could even be as easy as beginning to write about French fry designs and consistencies by country. Nothing is off the table, so long as you know your people.
3. Promote it well
Many blogs exist as a diary, personal and private, even in the myriad of websites on the Internet. Some people write to never have their writing shown to the world, some people document for themselves and that’s all good and well.
Some, however, are doing this to have a voice, so they need to start shouting and they need to shout at every street corner there is. Promotion of what they are doing and how best they do it should be at the forefront to encourage readers to look at their work. That being said, it’s best to use everything from social media to email marketing; the possibilities are endless.
4. Get in touch with others like you
We are unique, but never alone. So there will always be someone that can relate to you. The bigger picture of this is, the more of you there are, the better, because it is not only a networking opportunity, but a chance to build a community and being one of the major pillars it rests upon. It even helps having a reputable name vouching for your skills at that level, so it’s wise to never neglect what that kind of connection can do you for you.
It’s also the key aspect of getting exposure to greater and larger audiences, and fully integrating into the scene as one of the people who will make a difference in your niche. Everyone loves seeing their favourite people collaborate, and you’ll now be one of the favourites for it.
5. Pour into it
The investments we make in our life are the ones that often yield the greatest returns, and blogging is no exception. Whether it’s time, energy, or even financial resources, investing in your blog can increase its magnitude and have it go onward for the long run. This includes consistently publishing high-quality content, because a lot of this means doing something you’ve never done or getting something you’ve never gotten, whether it is a trip or a new device that helps your blog.
It’s also important to pour your passion and personality into your work. A blog that feels authentic, relatable, and reflective of its creator will often resonate more with readers than one that feels like a chore or a commercial endeavor. People connect with people, not just topics. If you’re truly invested in your blog, your readers will feel that and be more likely to return.
